September Membership Meeting & Dinner Update:      By Amy Wiedenmann, Sunwood Development Corp.

Wow!  What a meeting!  I believe all that were in attendance at last Thursday’s dinner would agree that our first general membership meeting started with a bang.  Our September meeting was held at Anthony’s Ocean View and included honoring our past presidents, installing our new board, and a panel on asset protection.  Thank you to Allan Fenner and Davey Resource Group-Land Development Solutions for sponsoring our September meeting.  Also, congratulations to Debra Wolfenson from Superior Hearth, Spas and Leisure for winning the Associate Spotlight.

Mario DiGioia took his new position as president and chairman and ran with it.  Between the jokes, and the singing, he entertained us all night.  In all seriousness, Mario did a great job leading his first general membership meeting.

Our State of Connecticut HBA President Liz Verna (Verner) installed the new board members, as well as, the officers on the executive committee.  Thank you to all of the board members that were in attendance.  And a special thank you to Mario DiGioia our new president, Michael DiGioia our new vice president and Joe DeFilippo our immediate past president for donating your time and energy to the HBA of New Haven County.

We are excited to announce that we have revised our name.  We will now be the Home Builders and Remodelers Association of New Haven County.  Please pass the word on and recommend our association to any remodelers you may know.

Our panel of experts including Gene Offredi of Summit Investor Coach, Jonathan Snyder of Morgan Stanley Smith Barney and Gayle Sims of the Pellegrino Law Firm discussed asset protection, trusts and family business planning.

Don’t miss our October general membership meeting that is being held on Wednesday, October 19th at Anthony’s Ocean View.  We will be having a panel on Affordable Housing that evening.

Also don’t forget that our Holiday Party will be held on December 9th at Il Monticello.  We will be having a 70’s theme- so dress appropriately.  A bet has already begun between Bob Mariano of Cyclone Home Systems and Mario DiGioia of DonMar Development to see who is the better singer.  You don’t want to miss this!!!
