Joyful Tidings for this Time of Year

As we enter this holiday time of year we are often busy running around like we are on a non-stop treadmill; but we also have an opportunity to reflect on the past year and the things that are most important.   As the HBRA President & Chairman, I wanted to share a few of my thoughts and wish you and yours a very happy holiday season.

Our industry has dealt with an economic downturn unlike any that it has encountered since the 1930s.  And yet, we have reasons to remain resilient and optimistic as we look to the future.  Who among us can look around and be anything other than appreciative and thankful for the many opportunities and blessings that we’ve had in our lives and in our businesses, even with the current economic meltdown?

Many Thanks to Our Associate Members
I first want to express appreciation to those among you who are known as “associate” members of the HBRA.  You provide the products and services that go into the homes across Connecticut.  Without your dedicated support, we would not have a viable home building industry in this region.  I express my thanks to all associate members for belonging to our HBRA and for your support of our programs & events and ultimately your support for a strong industry and economy so we can build the quality neighborhoods for which Connecticut is known nationally.

Respecting My Fellow Builders & Remodelers
This is a very competitive industry.  And yet, through the HBRA, competing home builders are able to collectively discuss and define strategies that will continue to foster greater opportunities for success for all of us who work to provide homes for those in this great state.   I encourage the builders & remodelers who haven’t been actively joining us at events or on committees to make it a New Year’s Resolution to get more involved and utilize your membership and benefits to the upmost level. And, help us identify others to get involved and join us, because there IS strength in numbers.

Grateful for this Country and our Freedoms
More than anyone, I salute members of the U.S. military, many of whom are risking their lives around the world to keep us free—so that we have the chance to live a life that remains the envy of the world. Thank you to all those who attended our 70’s themed holiday party on Dec. 9th and brought toys for the USMC Toys for Tots drive.  I’m glad members of our Marines and Navy were able to join us as our guests for the night!

So this time of year especially, it may be worth reflecting that the good outweighs the bad.  Keeping this mindset sets the stage for this nation and our industry to rebound in a way that will continue to give us the world’s greatest place to call home.   All the more reason we need to keep the faith and continue to work for progress through our common bond of membership in the HBRA!

From my family and me, I want to wish you and yours a very Happy Holiday season,

Mario Di Gioia, DonMar Development, North Haven
President & Chairman, HBRA of New Haven County
